Founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President
Tracy W. Krohn has served as Chief Executive Officer since he founded the Company in 1983, as President from 1983 until 2008 and again starting in 2017, as Chairman of the Board since 2004 and as Treasurer from 1997 until 2006. Mr. Krohn has been actively involved in the oil and gas business since graduating with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1978. He began his career as a petroleum engineer and offshore drilling supervisor with Mobil Oil Corporation. Prior to founding the Company, from 1981 to 1983, Mr. Krohn was senior engineer with Taylor Energy. From 1996 to 1997, Mr. Krohn was also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aviara Energy Corporation in Houston, Texas. In 2013, Mr. Krohn was appointed to serve on the board of directors of the American Petroleum Institute. He also serves on the board of directors of a privately owned company.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Janet Yang was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since November 2018. Previously, she served as Acting Chief Financial Officer from August 2018 to November 2018, Vice President – Corporate and Business Development from March 2017 to November 2018, Director - Strategic Planning & Analysis from June 2012 to March 2017 and Finance Manager from December 2008 to June 2012. Ms. Yang has over 16 years of finance, investment and strategy experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining the Company, she held positions in research and investment analysis at BlackGold Capital Management, investment banking at Raymond James and energy trading at Allegheny Energy. Ms. Yang received a B.A. in Economics from Rice University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Executive Vice President General Manager of Gulf of Mexico
William J. Williford was appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager of Gulf of Mexico in 2018. Since joining W&T in 2006, he has served in various positions of increasing responsibility with the Company, including Reservoir Engineer, Exploration Project Manager, General Manager Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, and most recently, Vice President and General Manager Gulf of Mexico Shelf and Deepwater. Mr. Williford has over 20 years of oil and gas technical experience with large independents in the Gulf of Mexico and Domestic Onshore. Prior to joining W&T, Mr. Williford held positions in reservoir, production, and operations at Kerr-McGee and Oryx Energy. Mr. Williford received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer
Stephen L. Schroeder was named Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer in June 2012. Previously he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2012. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Vice president of Production and as Production Manager since 1999, after joining us as a Staff Reservoir Engineer in 1998. Prior to joining our company, Mr. Schroeder was with Exxon USA for 12 years serving successively as an offshore reservoir engineer, financial analyst conducting deepwater profitability studies; audit team lead evaluating company reserves, gas plants and operating expenses; and acquisition engineer responsible for acquisition and divestiture evaluations. Mr. Schroeder received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985 and a M.B.A in Finance from Loyola University of New Orleans in 1989.
Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Shahid a. Ghauri joined the company in March of 2017 and effective April 7, 2017 became Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Most recently, Mr. Ghauri served as a partner with Jones Walker, where he focused primarily on business and commercial transaction in the oil and gas sector. Prior to that, MR. Ghauri was the Assistant General Counsel of BHP Billiton Petroleum, where he managed the legal team responsible for unconventional resource plays. Prior to joining BHP, Mr. Ghauri worked in private lac practice as an oil and gas lawyer with top tier law firms. Before earning his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2996, Mr. Ghauri was employed as a wireline logging engineer for Schlumberger. Mr. Ghauri received a B.S. and M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993. Mr. Ghauri is a member of the State Bars of Texas, and Pennsylvania, the Houston Producers’ Forum, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
Vice President, Geosciences
James Hersch joined W&T in 2010 as Exploration Manager Worldwide and in 2013 became Director, Geosciences, a position he held until being appointed Vice President Geosciences in 2017. Mr. Hersch has over 35 years of experience as a geologist and led exploration teams analyzing oil and gas producing basins around the world for large and small companies, including Exxon, Anadarko Petroleum and Century Petroleum. Immediately prior to joining W&T, he was the Principal and Founder of a private geological/geophysical consulting firm for international and domestic North America projects. Mr. Hersch is a licensed geologist and received a B.A. in Geology from Appalachian State University and an M.S. in Economic Geology from the University of Tennessee.
Vice President, Production Operations
Antoine Gautreaux joined W&T in 2007 and was appointed Vice President, Production Operations in December 2013. Mr. Gautreaux has over 45 years of Oil & Gas operational experience including 21 years with Placid Oil Company, 3 years with Deeptech International/Leviathan Gas Pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico and 10 years with Prime Natural Resources, Inc., including both domestic operations in the USA and internationally in Colombia and Iraq. Mr. Gautreaux has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering Technology from Nicholls State University.
Vice President and Treasurer
Todd E. Grabois joined W&T as Vice President and Treasurer in July, 2006. Mr. Grabois was most recently Chief Financial Officer for Texas Independent Exploration LTD from 2001 to 2006. Prior to joining Texas Independent, he was with Benz Energy, Inc. and Texstar Petroleum for 17 years serving in various positions, including Treasurer and Secretary. Mr. Grabois has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware.
Vice President, HSE&R
Steve Hamm joined W&T as Vice President, HSE&R in 2017. He originally joined the Company in 2012 as Director HSE, a position he held for four years before he left the Company to co-found and operate his own HSE consulting firm for the energy industry. Mr. Hamm spent the first 11 years of his career at an environmental regulatory agency where he held roles as an NPDES Investigator, Superfund Coordinator and Emergency Response Manager. Following this, Steve consulted for the oil and gas industry in regulatory, environmental and safety compliance for approximately 10 years. Steve holds a B.S. degree in Marine Fisheries from Texas A&M University, and is a Certified Safety Professional.
Vice President, Marketing & Midstream
W. Allen Tate joined W&T as Vice President, Marketing & Midstream in August 2006. Mr. Tate has over 30 years of industry experience and was most recently Director of Producer Services for Noble Energy Marketing, Inc. Prior to joining Noble, he was a Business Development Director for Southern Union, Director of Business Development and Supply for CMS Field Services, and Director of Marketing for CMS Energy. Prior to that, Mr. Tate held various management positions in Marketing, Marketing Operations, Business Development & Supply and Gas Measurement with Duke Energy, PanEnergy, Panhandle Eastern Corporation and Hytech Energy. Mr. Tate has a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
